Main characters:
Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers): The adventurous dreamer of the group who discovers the ship in the woods to start the show
Fern (Ryan Kiera-Armstrong): A tough rebel who isn’t afraid to stand up to bullies and has been compared to a young Princess Leia
Neel (Robert Timothy Smith): Wim’s best friend who is said to be sweet and shy and will likely be providing much of the comic relief throughout the show. He is NOT an Ortolan by Max Rebo
KB (Kyriana Kratter): Described as a thoughtful tech wiz, the actress has admitted to using Lobot from The Empire Strikes Back as inspiration
Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law): A mysterious pirate figure who befriends the crew and promises to get him home. He may end up being a Force user, a Jedi, or a con man depending on how the series goes
SM-33 (Nick Frost): An ancient droid that becomes reactivated when discovered by the crew who also has a rat-like character living in his eye
The Onyx Cinder: The main ship that the crew flies throughout the series
The plot:
“Skeleton Crew tells a coming-of-age story about four children who make a discovery on their home planet, get lost in the galaxy, and go on an adventure to get back home.”
The show takes place during the same time period as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka with the New Republic starting to form after the fall of the Empire
The tone:
Creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: Homecoming) have said that the show is about kids but it’s not necessarily made just for kids
Comparisons have been made to E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, The Goonies, and other Amblin Entertainment films from the 1980s
The show is pitched as a “Star Wars Adventure” with trailers and clips showcasing the playful nature of the show alongside very real danger and high stakes
