ick Frost sat down with Kristin Baver to discuss his love of Star Wars and the creation of the new droid, SM-33 in Skeleton Crew!
“You’re the guardian of something that people hold really dear.”
The backstory:
- Audiences may know Nick Frost from his work on Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy with frequent collaborator Simon Pegg who played Unkar Plutt in The Force Awakens
- Frost grew up with Star Wars in the 70s - even taking trips to a local shop that sold the figures (he was allowed one per week)
- He immediately accepted the role of SM-33 when the call was made and acknowledges the weight of the responsibility saying “You’re the guardian of something that people hold really dear.”
The droid:
- SM-33’s design was a massive surprise to Frost as the droid features a peg leg and a rat-like creature living in one of his eyes
- Frost sees the relationship between SM-33 and the rat as “a Star Wars Ratatouille”
- Regarding his personality, Frost reveals “He is a charming metal rogue with a heart…At the same time, he's kind of bad to the bone.”
Be sure to check out Baver’s full discussion with Nick Frost as well as her chat with Jude Law from earlier this week!
Skeleton Crew arrives on Disney+ with the first two episodes on Tuesday, December 3rd.
