Review:
I’m tempted to keep this short: It’s a Kylo Ren comic by Charles Soule and Will Sliney. Do you really need to know more?
Since 2019’s Rise of Kylo Ren, it’s been clear that Soule is ready to dig into Kylo’s off-screen journey from Ben Solo to Supreme Leader. That continued through last year’s Legacy of Vader, and now Soule is reuniting with artist Will Sliney to cap off the unofficial trilogy. Rise and Legacy were instant fan favorites, and Fall is already poised to join its predecessors.

Marvel Comics
This opening issue picks up where Legacy left off, showing a Supreme Leader who is fully giving in to his rage. His First Order is faltering due to power grabs of insolent underlings. This quarrel between Generals Hux and Pryde is a catalyst for Kylo to take an even more authoritative stance and sets up the internal conflict in The Rise of Skywalker. While we know where Kylo will end up by the time of Episode IX, this character exploration is a natural and compelling part of that journey.
In the same way that The Clone Wars filled out Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side, Soule’s ongoing comic saga is giving the Sequel Trilogy some much needed background material. Unsurprisingly, this series is off to a fantastic start and looks to be another hit.
Our rating: Incredible
What’s next: Kylo’s saga continues in The Fall of Kylo Ren #2 when it hits shelves on September 16th
