.K. Johnston, best known to Star Wars fans for writing the so-called "Queen's Trilogy" (Queen's Shadow, Queen's Peril, and Queen's Hope) and the standalone YA novel Ahsoka, posted an exciting announcement on her Twitter feed today: she will be writing a new YA novel called Star Wars: Crimson Climb. Details are sparse at the moment, but based on the cover and the title, we can surmise that this book will focus on Solo's beloved character Qi'Ra and her involvement with the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. Michael Siglain, the Creative Director at Lucasfilm Publishing, confirmed via Twitter that the book will release in October.
A potential storyline for the book could be some sort of bridge between the movie Solo and the so-called "Qi'Ra Trilogy" from the comics (War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign, and Hidden Empire). However, we won't know for certain until we get an official synopsis from the publisher. We'll be sure to update this article when we get more information.

And be sure to catch up with Qi'Ra's story before Crimson Climb drops on October 10 by reading the "Qi'Ra Trilogy" in the comics, as well as the fantastic YA novel that serves as a prequel to Solo: Most Wanted by Rae Carson.
It has been confirmed via the official summary of Crimson Climb that the book takes place during the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story. On Twitter, Johnston noted that she will be expanding on the work already done on the character by authors Rae Carson and Mur Lafferty. Additionally, the release date has been confirmed to be October 10, 2023. Here's the official summary from Disney-Lucasfilm Press:
Not everyone gets to be the hero.
Qi'ra listened to the dreams and promises of a boy with a reckless smile, only to be torn away from him and returned to the White Worms gang while Han made his way to freedom. Now freedom seems like a luxury she can't afford while she concentrates on survival and despairs of ever leaving Corellia. But her fortunes seem to turn when a representative of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn plucks Qi'ra from captivity and brings her to the syndicate's leader, the mysterious and mercurial Dryden Vos. Vos offers Qi'ra an opportunity she’s never had before: the chance to build something resembling a comfortable life if she can prove her worth to his organization. With failure meaning certain death, Qi'ra knows she must immerse herself in the merciless, murderous world of Crimson Dawn. What she doesn't know is just who she will be if she survives….
