While not as neatly constructed as the previous series entries, Queen’s Hope delivers a wonderfully satisfying conclusion to Johnston’s work with the Senator by emphasizing the importance of relationships, trust, and purpose.

Padmé returns for third and final entry in E.K. Johnston’s trilogy with Queen’s Hope. Although a secret marriage to the love of her life, Anakin Skywalker, should be a happy moment…such peace can rarely be found in war. The Clone Wars rage on, and as the grisly realities of continued conflict take a toll on the newlyweds, nuptial celebration must give way to action and even more secrets. With Padmé fighting in her own way for the future of the Republic, the responsibility of her Senatorial commission falls to Sabé who hopes to steep herself in deception one final time for her lifelong friend. It will take all the cunning and compassion that Padmé has cultivated through her life to save those that she loves as the hope of a peaceful Republic slowly crumbles around her.

Publisher's Summary

Queen's Hope is a young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston focusing on Senator Padmé Amidala during the Clone Wars.

A peace-loving senator faces a time of war in another thrilling Padmé Amidala adventure from the author of the New York Times best-sellers Queen's Peril and Queen's Shadow!

Padmé is adjusting to being a wartime senator during the Clone Wars. Her secret husband, Anakin Skwyalker, [sic] is off fighting the war, and excels at being a wartime Jedi. In contrast, when Padmé gets the opportunity to see the casualties on the war-torn front lines, she is horrified. The stakes have never been higher for the galaxy, or for the newly-married couple.

Meanwhile, with Padmé on a secret mission, her handmaiden Sabé steps into the role of Senator Amidala, something no handmaiden has done for an extended period of time. While in the Senate, Sabé is equally horrified by the machinations that happen there. She comes face to face with a gut-wrenching decision as she realizes that she cannot fight a war this way, not even for Padmé.

And Chancellor Palpatine hovers over it all, manipulating the players to his own ends…
