As we all experience the conclusion of Andor, perhaps the most compelling Star Wars television to date, I cannot help but feel moved by the many lessons (and stark reminders) this series offers. As my mind flashes back to watershed moments in history, the American Revolution keeps coming to mind.

Andor echoes the complexities and tension-filled path toward rebellion that led to the American Revolution. At the heart of Andor is a story of ordinary people pushed to extraordinary measures. This narrative aligns strikingly with the struggles of colonial Americans fighting against British oppression.

Much like colonial America’s gradual transformation from passive discontent to active revolt, Andor portrays the citizens of Ferrix, Ghorman, and other Imperial worlds slowly recognizing the harshness of Imperial rule.
