Mara Jade Skywalker Receives an Official Legacy Lightsaber

Disney is producing a limited edition lightsaber for one of the most famous characters in all of Legends, Mara Jade Skywalker.

What we know:

• Mara Jade Skywalker’s “Emperor’s Hand Limited Edition Legacy Lightsaber” will be joining the official Disney lightsaber lineup starting tomorrow, March 8th at 11am ET

• There will be 3500 units available total between the online Disney Store and the in-person Disney Parks

• The saber will cost $325, comes in a collector box emblazoned with a logo that combines the Empire and New Jedi Order, and includes an exclusive variant of Mara Jade: By the Emperor’s Hand #1

• A blade is not included in the purchase, but when any compatible Disney saber blade is inserted, the saber will glow purple

Looking back:

• Disney has produced Legacy lightsabers for years, but they have so far been focused purely on Canon characters

• Previous limited edition sabers have included Ahsoka Tano, Cal Kestis, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and even The High Republic’s Stellan Gios

The big picture: This is the first time that an exclusively Legends character has received an official legacy lightsaber from Disney. With Mara Jade’s popularity growing each year, this is the most concrete sign of Disney’s love for Legends since the reintroduction of Thrawn.
