JAR JAR RETURNS — CO-WRITTEN BY JAR JAR HIMSELF, AHMED BEST! JAR JAR faces the consequences of giving emergency powers to CHANCELLOR PALPATINE. What pivotal role does Jar Jar play in the formation of the REBEL ALLIANCE? Guest-starring fan-favorite JEDI KNIGHT KELLERAN BEQ!

Why it matters: As one of the most infamous characters in Star Wars history, Jar Jar is frequently on the raw end of jokes. But in his Marvel Comics debut, the Gungan senator teams up with a Jedi master to prove he’s not a laughing stock… at least, not entirely.
Key moments:
Meesa seeing double: Jar Jar actor Ahmed Best thrilled fans after bringing Kelleran Beq from Jedi Temple Challenge to The Mandalorian. Not only do his two characters get to share the page here, he even pens the story himself!
Exqueeze me?!: In addition to Binks and Beq, this one shot is full of startling appearances from all around the Star Wars canon. Featuring the first ever story appearance of Phantom Menace background character Rum Sleg.
How wude!: This adventure is full of hijinks and classic Jar Jar slapstick. But readers might be surprised to find a strong and compelling action-adventure full of political intrigue.

The big picture:
At its core, Star Wars is a story of redemption. Anakin Skywalker, Kylo Ren, and… Jar Jar Binks? The comic relief alien that caused a schism in the fandom has fought for 25 years to flip the discourse, both in and out of the Star Wars universe.
His tenure as a senator had a rocky start when he served as a major catalyst of putting Palpatine in power. But now he’s done with the guilt and ready to make things right. Jar Jar #1 is the fun and surprisingly substantial tale of how the goofy Gungan went from accidentally kickstarting the Empire to intentionally sowing seeds of Rebellion. At his side is the Sabered Hand, Kelleran Beq, once again back for an exciting guest spot (see Jedi Knights #8).
Both characters are fittingly brought to life by Ahmed Best himself. The actor has been candid in recent years about his difficult journey as a Star Wars actor. Penning a comic featuring his two characters is a triumphant marker of his return to the franchise. Best is joined by Jedi Knights author Marc Guggenheim, and the pair deliver a story that is not only a celebration of the actor but also a fantastic story in its own right.
With surprising cameos (Rum Sleg? REALLY?), thrilling action, and great art from Laura Braga and Kieran McKeown, Jar Jar #1 may be the surprise hit of 2026. This is one bombad comic book!
Our rating: Incredible
