The Admiral:
- The Battle of Jakku: Insurgency Rising #2 saw the return of Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, a character first introduced in John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn and rose to prominence in Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath trilogy
- Further Aftermath connections were found in the issue with the inclusion of the Acolytes of the Beyond, a cult devoted to the Sith, and a shadowy figure who is believed to be Gallius Rax, a disciple of the Emperor tasked with carrying out Palpatine’s final Contingency.
New alliances:
- The issue also featured a new Rebellion team including longtime comics favorite Kes Dameron and Jarek Yeager from Star Wars: Resistance.
- The Spice Runners of Kajimi finished out the issue as they created an alliance with the falling Empire at the word of Zeva Bliss, the mother of Zorri Bliss who was introduced in The Rise of Skywalker
