Skeleton Crew Episode 6 Review!
Our full review of Skeleton Crew’s sixth episode, “Zero Friends Again”!
Jan 2, 2025
Skeleton Crew begins the new year with another spectacular episode behind the directorial talent of Bryce Dallas Howard. With a focus on KB’s emotional journey and a final action sequence guaranteed to make you cheer, this series continues its run as one of the best seasons of Star Wars television!
Spoilers Ahead for Episodes 1-6!
What we saw:
After Jod’s betrayal at the end of Episode 5, Fern, Wim, KB, and Neel find themselves trapped amidst a massive trash heap but immediately disagree on the way to escape it – leading the group to split up.
While Fern and Neel attempt to climb directly to the ship, KB and Wim follow a group of trash crabs that Wim has chosen to trust, but KB immediately shows signs that she isn’t okay.
As KB’s systems begin to shut down, Wim races to save her - leading the two to have a beautifully vulnerable conversation about KB’s disabilities and her worries about confiding in Fern about them…fearing this would lead to a dissolution of the friendship.
Wim assures KB that the entire group loves her no matter what, and in the meantime, he literally saves her life, leading her to give a smile saying “Thanks, Jedi.”
Meanwhile, Jod is captured once again by his old pirate gang, and before his execution, he is given the chance for a final speech to prove his worth.
Jod takes the time to rouse the pirate gang into a frenzy about the possibility of the At Attin treasure, and Captain Brutus says that they’ll follow his lead which will result in either massive treasure…or Jod’s death.
Fern, Neel, KB, and Wim finally reunite after Fern and Neel daringly guide the Onyx Cinder back to their friends (who were about to be eaten by a giant crab monster), but before they can take off, a massive trash compactor threatens to destroy the ship with them inside!
All of the kids immediately spring into action, and at the final second, Fern activates the hull detonation switch which reveals a second, sleeker ship inside of the main hull – allowing the gang to rocket off of the planet!

What we loved:
KB hasn’t exactly had her moment to shine thus far in the series, and this episode finally showcased why she’s such a key member of the group. Kyriana Kratter’s performance was superb in showing KB’s heartbreaking concern over her differences in relation to Fern, but Wim’s willingness to accept her as she is made for one of the most poignant moments in the series.
Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood continues to be a sensational addition to Star Wars, and although he played a smaller role in this particular episode, his speech to inspire the pirates to search for treasure once more was earnestly thrilling.
Bryce Dallas Howard is no stranger to Star Wars directing, but this episode is definitely one of her best entries in the franchise. By balancing intimate, emotional conversations with thrilling action set pieces with brand new creatures as well as the Onyx Cinder itself, Howard creates a beautifully balanced episode for an already fantastic season.

What’s next:
With the coordinates to At Attin in hand for our heroes as well as the pirate gang, the stage is set for next week’s penultimate episode.
Even though Jod’s betrayal still looms large, is it still possible for him to be redeemed in the eyes of the children? Do they even want that?
The larger mystery of At Attin took a backseat during this episode, but the planet still appears to be completely disconnected from the larger galaxy. Will the final episodes bring the civilization into the galactic community or will the kids simply return home to their normal lives?
Skeleton Crew somehow keeps gaining momentum with each week’s new adventure, and thanks to a standout performance from Kyriana Kratter and the reveal of a shiny new Onyx Cinder, Episode 6 continues that trend beautifully. If the final two episodes continue this level of quality, Skeleton Crew could find itself amongst the best Star Wars shows of all time.
Skeleton Crew is streaming now exclusively on Disney+!
