Why it matters: In the wake of Return of the Jedi, Han Solo takes center stage with an adventure that brings back memories of his past.
Key moments:
Stunning artwork: Once more, no one does it like Phil Noto.
Han grows up: Han and fan-favorite bounty hunter Beilert Valance return to their old adventurous ways, but Han shows how his time with Leia and the Rebellion has changed him from his days as a smuggler.
Timeline jumping: Much of this issue’s exposition comes from flashbacks of different points in Han’s life. It’s a fun look at different stages of Han’s life, from Solo through the Original Trilogy.

The big picture: Only three issues into this new run, Alex Segura has established a unique feeling to this unexplored era of the Star Wars Canon. This issue, like both before it, dumps a lot of new information on the reader. There’s flashbacks, new characters, interweaving plotlines, and pages of exposition - it can be a bit tough to track. But the adventures being used to keep things exciting remain a lot of fun.
Despite the crowded story, this is still a great quick adventure for the franchise’s most notable smuggler. And the threads continuing from last month’s Luke-focused issue cross into Han’s story here, showing signs of everything converging into a central plot. It seems like Segura is building to a planned finale, but it feels like everything may depend on how well he sticks the landing.
