Marvel Comics
Why it matters: Jedi Knights continues to be one of the best displays of Jedi heroics we’ve ever seen. As Qui-Gon’s life hangs in the balance, Mace Windu and Aayla Secura must fight their way through assassins looking for a cure, and the result is as thrilling as you’d expect.
Key moments:
Epic Action: Not only do the Jedi fight off dozens of assassins, they have to deal with the return of the kaijura from issue #3. Madibek Musabekov renders these battles in stunning fashion.
Jedi ideals: When the dust finally settles, our heroes remind us that there is more to a Jedi than fighting with laser swords.
Mysteries continue: Qui-Gon’s life is unsurprisingly saved, but there are still lingering questions about the assassination attempt.

Marvel Comics
The big picture:
This series is as consistent as it gets. Marc Guggenheim’s exploration of the Jedi through these short stories continues to be a thrilling look at the so-called peaceful era of the Republic. While most of the series has been done-in-one stories, this two-parter earns the extra page space with both high stakes action and discussions about what makes the Jedi Order the ultimate heroes. Most of all, Guggenheim and Musabekov remember that comic books should be one thing above all else: FUN.
Our rating: Incredible
