QUI-GON JINN AND OBI-WAN KENOBI BATTLE GIANT MONSTERS! ALL SPLASH PAGES! ALL ACTION! The most unusual Jedi Knights tale ever told! QUI-GON and OBI-WAN defy death in an epic attempt to save the life of SENATOR BAIL ORGANA on a planet full of skyscraper-sized monsters!
Why it matters: Star Wars action has never been as epic as this! Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan team up to fight some of the biggest monsters you’ve ever seen.

Key moments:
Epic scale: In a rare gimmick for a Star Wars comic, every page is a splash page. Madibek Musabekov delivers a stunning series of images that perfectly fit the giant monster story.
Rule of cool: Sometimes stories need to be dense and thought provoking (see: last night’s Andor finale). And sometimes you just need to watch Jedi fight skyscraper-sized monsters. This is one of those times.
Stunning art: Did I mention Madibek Musabekov? It bears repeating that this artist’s showcase is absolutely gorgeous. This kind of story doesn’t work without a superb art team, and Musabekov - with colorist Clayton Cowles - nailed the assignment.

The big picture: It’s important to remember sometimes that comic books are supposed to be fun, and boy this one is a trip. Marc Guggenheim dared to ask an important question: How cool would it be if Jedi fought kaiju? Madibek Musabekov responded with a simple answer: EXTREMELY COOL.
There’s not a lot to say about this comic that isn’t immediately apparent via its premise. It’s a book full of splash pages showing two of our favorite jedi fighting kaiju (sorry… kaijura, as they are dubbed by Qui-Gon). It’s exactly as enjoyable as you’d expect. The art is gorgeous and there’s just enough story to keep things moving without getting in the way of the spectacle.
When it comes to comic book gimmicks, this is as cool as it gets. I’m reminded of Marvel’s “‘Nuff Said” event from 2002 where several comics featured completely dialogue-free stories. It’s not the kind of issue you’d want every month, but it makes for a fun reminder of what the medium can do when you push the limits. In time, we’ll get back to the mystery of Qui-Gon’s assassin; for now, sit back and enjoy the monsters.
Our rating: Incredible
What’s next: The adventures of Qui-Gon Jinn continue in Jedi Knights #4 – out June 4, 2025.
