Looking back:
Rian Johnson wrote and directed Episode VIII: The Last Jedi which became the second highest grossing Star Wars film of all time
Shortly before the film’s release, Johnson was announced to create a brand new Star Wars trilogy of films after Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy called working with Johnson “one of the great joys of my career”
After The Last Jedi’s divisive fan reception, the trilogy was placed on hold, and Johnson was free to create other projects

What’s new:
Over the last decade, Johnson has created the wildly successful Knives Out franchise for Netflix as well as the series Poker Face for Peacock
While talking to The Independent, Johnson talked about what happened to the potential trilogy, saying “I mean, I kind of went down the murder mystery rabbit hole – I’m focused on making other stuff. But that wouldn’t rule out it happening down the line. If I get back in the Star Wars universe someday, I’d be the happiest person.”
