Looking back:
Kathleen Kennedy originally became the co-chair of Lucasfilm alongside George Lucas in 2012 before taking over as President after Lucas left the company
Before her assumption of the role, Kennedy was one of the most sought after producers in Hollywood thanks to her work on projects like E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Gremlins, The Goonies, Jurassic Park, and Back To The Future.
During her tenure, Kennedy oversaw the resurgence of Star Wars with the release of the Sequel Trilogy as well as the franchise’s launch into live-action television on Disney+
In addition to Star Wars, she also brought back Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones with The Dial of Destiny
Despite receiving constant scrutiny throughout her years as president, Kennedy has remained the public face of Star Wars and has continued to champion various causes and creators within the franchise

With Star Wars Celebration Japan only two months away, it’s possible that an official confirmation of Kennedy’s departure will be announced in Tokyo, but regardless of the timing, Star Wars will forever owe her a massive debt for her incredible work in revitalizing a galaxy far, far away.
