James Earl Jones, the iconic voice of Darth Vader, has sadly passed away at the age of 93.
Star Wars Royalty:
Jones originated the voice of Darth Vader in A New Hope in 1977.
He completed his work on Episode 4 in a single day and proceeded to shape the voice of Vader in various projects for 45 years.
A Legendary Career:
Jones received three Tony Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and an Honorary Academy Award — making him one of only 27 EGOT winners.
The James Earl Jones Theatre in New York was named after him in 2022, becoming the second Broadway venue named after a Black theatrical personality.
A Father’s Words: Jones was driven by his father, Robert Earl Jones, who instilled within him advice he never forgot.
“If you want to do this business, you gotta do it because you love it, not because it’s gonna make you rich or famous. That was the best advice he could give me.”
In Memoriam: James Earl Jones's mark on the Star Wars franchise and his legacy within the entire world of film & theatrical performance will never be forgotten.
