Why it matters: This volume of Star Wars has been a slow burn, with several seemingly disjointed plots. But they’re all finally coming together for an epic final showdown.
Key moments:
It’s all coming together: The interweaving plots of this run have been tough to parse at times, but everything is finally reaching the endgame. With the plots coming together, the unseen connections make much more sense.
Fresh art: Phil Noto is tough to replace, but fill-in artist Pete Woods delivers in his Star Wars debut. His style is a shocking departure from Noto’s meticulously composed designs and brings an exciting energy to this thrilling chapter.
Evil unmasked: As the alliance between Reyne Oskure and Prime Minister Almovar begins to fray, the true motivations of this conflict are revealed.

Marvel Comics
The big picture: Alex Segura has taken a very big swing with his approach to the latest volume of Star Wars. Rather than a straightforward adventure featuring Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, he opted for a complex political thriller starring several new characters and factions. Frankly, it’s been a lot to handle.
However in this issue, much of that confusion is finally clearing up. It took some time, but these plots are coming together and seem to be culminating in a satisfying final act of Segura’s epic. When the dust settles, I think the comic will greatly benefit from a reread (alongside the Battle of Jakku maxiseries) so you can take everything in with a macro view.
Our rating: Good
What’s next: The revolution continues on Christmas Eve in Star Wars #8.
