Marvel Comics
Key moments:
Brawn vs Brains: Boba Fett comes face to… dome? with one of the coolest background aliens in Star Wars: the B’omarr Monks. A book of heavy action with a nice dose of horror.
Non-stop action: This series is effectively designed to let us watch Boba cut loose, and this may be one of the most brutal looks we’ve ever had at Boba Fett.
The ghost of bounties past: Boba’s mission brings him face to face with a former mark. This flashback gives us a rare look at Fett’s earlier days, reprising a look for Boba not seen since the Clone Wars.
The big picture: In case you never noticed, Boba Fett is cool. Like, that’s his main thing. And it’s fully on display here. Every issue of Black, White, & Red comes with stellar artwork, but Juan José Ryp puts on a masterclass with one of the coolest looking stories to date. His character designs are a perfect blend of over-the-top expressive and detailed realism, and the fight scenes–there are a LOT of fight scenes–are dynamic and energetic.

Ethan Sacks’s script lets Ryp’s artwork do the talking, but the story is still a thrilling one. Readers are reminded that Boba Fett never forgets a bounty - it may take years, but he’ll find his target. This story of revenge is taken to the next level as it results in a showdown between the fiercest bounty hunter in the galaxy and a new sect of B’omarr Monks, an epic showdown no one could see coming.
Our rating: Incredible
