This trilogy is one of the earliest origin stories for the galaxy's most renowned scoundrel. From his early days as an orphan to his eventual assimilation into the Rebellion, learn every detail of what led Han Solo to the Mos Eisley Cantina at precisely the right time to have a hand in saving the galaxy. The fun thing about this series is that no other prior Star Wars reading is require in order to dive in. Brian Daley's Han Solo Adventures take place during the timeline of Rebel Dawn, and might be some fun additional reading along the way, but aren't necessary in reading Crispin's incarnation of our favorite smuggler. A. C. Crispin's trilogy is a Youtini favorite. It's a masterpiece of a series for a number of reasons: she's not afraid to touch on tough topics through her fiction—racism, slavery, religion, and revolution, to name a few. She also creatively crafts some of the craziest worldbuilding in all of Legends (looking at you, t'landa till—the telepathic rhinos with t-rex hands). On top of all that, she creates characters that stand the test of time and stand on their own and writes Han's origin story in such a way that fits seamlessly into the established story in the Original Trilogy. You'll want to read this series if you love Solo: A Star Wars Story and want to dive into his non-canonical origin story for comparison. It's also great if you just love Han Solo and want a dose of his adventurous spirit and charm in your life. It's a great series to read if you're looking to get started with Legends but aren't ready for something as dense and ambitious as the New Jedi Order.
