Happy 5 Year Anniversary to ‘The Mandalorian’

Five years ago today, The Mandalorian premiered and changed the trajectory of Star Wars forever.

Looking back:

• The Mandalorian premiered alongside the Disney+ streaming service on November 12th, 2019 with “Chapter 1: The Mandalorian”

• The episode introduced audiences to Din Djarin, Greef Karga, The Razor Crest, and most importantly…The Child

• The Mandalorian marked the first Canon live-action television series in the history of Star Wars and was the first television show to use the real-time rendering technology of “The Volume”

By the numbers:

• The Mandalorian has remained the most watched Star Wars show since its premiere

• Season 1 was watched for over 5 billion minutes with Season 2 increasing that to over 8 billion

• Season 1 was nominated for 15 Primetime Emmy Awards including Best Drama Series

What’s next: After 24 episodes over 3 seasons, the stars of the show will return in the feature film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, on May 22, 2026.
