To be perfectly honest, I did not have very high expectations going into this one. I thought the first one was fun, but not exactly gripping or consequential. I am very happy to report that is far from the case with FACPOV: ESB. While there were some stories that weren't really in my wheelhouse, I found myself racing through each one with the eager anticipation of whichever new story awaited me. There were a plethora of new characters that I quickly grew fond of, and plenty of old characters that I loved revisiting. Overall, this was a delight to read and truly captured the heart of what Star Wars should be.

The Empire Strikes Back is one of my favorite Star Wars movies, so I was looking forward to this book. It delivered just like the previous installment did, and my thoughts about this book echo that of the last: some stories were so enthralling that I wanted them to last forever, and some just didn't catch my attention and I was ready to move on to the next story. A few of my favorite stories include "Rendezvous Point", "Lord Vader Will See You Now", "Faith in an Old Friend", and "Right-Hand Man". Overall, I think that this book enhances what is already a fantastic movie, and I am looking forward to watching it again while thinking of the expanded stories of the background characters.
From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back follows through on the expansive promise of the original book but increases its effectiveness tenfold by employing the talents of the most diverse group of writers Star Wars has ever seen. While not every story will thrill every single consumer, the vast assortment of tales will surely entertain every type of reader from the newest Empire fan to those who waited in line to discover Luke’s secret origin back in 1980.
