t’s a big day for Legends fans, as the covers for Wave 3 of the Essential Legends Collection have been unveiled. The last wave was released in September 2021, and the initiative serves as a way to get new readers into some of the more popular Legends stories. This wave rounds out a series, and introduces a few new fan favorites.

The last wave saw trade paperback releases of Dark Force Rising and The Last Command by Timothy Zahn, Darth Bane: Rule of Two by Drew Karpyshyn, and Rogue Squadron by Michael Stackpoole.

This second wave continues with even more great selections from the Legends catalogue. There are four new books coming out in the new format on April 5th, 2022 and today we got a sneak peek from Del Rey.

The Darth Bane series concludes with Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil by Drew Karpyshyn. This is the final chapter of the originator of the Rule of Two. The cover features art from Simon Goinard, who has now wrapped his work on reimagining the covers for this classic trilogy.

Next, we have Michael Stackpole’s Wedge’s Gamble. This is a direct sequel to Rogue Squadron. This follows the trend set by the previous book of changing its series name to Rogue Squadron instead of X-Wing. This is likely to differentiate between the novels focused on the Rogues and the ones focused on Wraith Squadron. The novel will also receive a new unabridged audiobook, for the first time. The cover art for this series is again by Doaly.

Next, we have John Jackson Miller’s Kenobi. The novel has cemented its place as a part of the Youtini Foundational Five, as one of the best books to read for new Star Wars readers. Fans of the upcoming Kenobi show on Disney+ may also want to pick up this classic. Although the series will not be a direct adaptation of the novel, they both tell the story of Obi-wan at similar times in his life. The cover art for this novel is by Gregory Manchess.

Lastly, have you ever heard of the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise? Well next April will be a great time to find out. James Luceno’s classic novel will tell the story of the infamous Sith Lord during his time mentoring a young Palpatine. The cover art for this novel is by Qistina Khalidah.

With the stellar line-up of novels republished thus far, we cannot wait to see what comes next.
