O
ver two decades ago, Genndy Tartakovsky created a Clone Wars series that still inspires Star Wars to this day!
Looking back:
- Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars introduced a number of iconic characters including Asajj Ventress and General Grievous
- Anakin Skywalker’s scar seen in Revenge of the Sith was originally given to him by a duel with Ventress in this series
- The series was known for its gorgeous 2D animation modeled after Tartkovsky’s other projects like Samurai Jack as well as an explosively stylistic fighting style
Looking ahead:
- Voice actors like James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Tom Kane (Yoda) continued their roles in the canonical series Star Wars: The Clone Wars after their performances in Tartakovsky’s show
- Mace Windu’s fighting style in The Glass Abyss was directly inspired by the series according to author Steven Barnes
- Asajj Ventress’s origin story, originally told within this series, was later mentioned in Christie Golden’s Dark Disciple
Although Clone Wars is no longer Canon, its impact on the Star Wars legacy cannot be understated, and the entire series is available to watch on Disney+!
