In a first for the Star Wars universe, a fully produced audio drama has been added to the Canon! Dooku: Jedi Lost compiles an incredibly talented cast of actors to tell the unknown story of one the breakout stars of the Prequel Trilogy.

Penguin Random House Audio welcomed this new addition into the world of Star Wars today with the following press release:

Delve into the history of the sinister Count Dooku in this audiobook exclusive set in a galaxy far, far away….

Darth Tyranus. Count of Serenno. Leader of the Separatists. A red saber, unsheathed in the dark. But who was he, before he became the right hand of the Sith? As Dooku courts a new apprentice, the hidden truth of the Sith Lord’s past begins to come to light.

Dooku’s life began as one of privilege—born within the stony walls of his family’s estate, orbited by the Funeral Moon where the bones of his ancestors lie interred. But soon his Jedi abilities are recognized and he is taken from his home to be trained in the ways of the Force by the legendary Master Yoda.

As he hones his power, Dooku rises through the ranks, befriending fellow Jedi Sifo-Dyas and taking a padawan of his own, the promising Qui-Gon Jinn—and tries to forget the life that he once led. But he finds himself drawn by a strange fascination with the Jedi Master Lene Kostana, and the mission she undertakes for the Order: finding and studying ancient relics of the Sith, in preparation for the eventual return of the deadliest enemies the Jedi have ever faced.

Caught between the world of the Jedi, the ancient responsibilities of his lost home, and the alluring power of the relics, Dooku struggles to stay in the light—even as the darkness begins to fall.

Author Cavan Scott, a fan of audio dramas and the NPR Playhouse radio dramatizations of the original Star Wars trilogy, says, “I was over the moon to be asked to write the first Star Wars audio drama in many years. As I started out writing audio drama, writing Dooku: Jedi Lost was like coming home, and it was incredibly exciting to tell stories of Jedi, Sith and a Galaxy Far, Far Away in audio form. Telling the story of one of the saga’s greatest villains, chronicling his life from age ten to a man in his sixties, through audio helped bring this story to life, providing voices for new key characters in the story of the Jedi. Hearing key moments of Dooku’s life will give the listener an intimate understanding of this most enigmatic of Star Wars characters.

Nick Martorelli, the audio producer of Dooku: Jedi Lost and also a fan of the original Star Wars radio dramas, adds, “Audiobooks are so popular, and we wanted to tell a narrative fiction story with light sabers and music and sound effects, so that you’re listening to a new Star Wars adventure.

CAVAN SCOTT is a writer, editor, and producer of over 60 books and audio dramas, including the Sunday Times Top 10 Bestseller Who-ology - The Official Doctor Who Miscellany. He has written for The Sarah Jane Adventures, Judge Dredd, Warhammer 40,000, Pathfinder, Adventure Time, Blake's 7, and many more. He is also the author of the Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space series and has contributed to Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View and the Star Wars: Choose Your Destiny series. Cavan lives near Bristol with his wife and their two daughters.

We at Youtini are beyond excited for this new addition to the world of Star Wars, and be on the lookout next week for our official review of this wonderfully ambitious project.
