HIS RECAP CONTAINS THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT SPOILERS.

With the second episode of The Book of Boba Fett here at last, it’s becoming even clearer that the story of everyone’s favorite [former] bounty hunter isn’t at all what most fans expected. There’s what we saw in the trailers … and then there’s the magic of what we’re actually getting. There are desert trains. Mysterious lizards. Fever dreams. It’s a ride we’ll never forget, and we’re only two weeks in.

Over the next few months, we’ll follow up each new episode of The Book of Boba Fett with a quick recap while you’re excitedly yelling in our Discord (don’t forget those spoiler tags!) and waiting for our weekly Bounty Hunt live stream.

While we’ll stick to recapping each episode here, both our Discord and Bounty Hunt will be perfect places to discuss reactions and predictions for what’s to come. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS BELOW.

Let’s go!

Opening in the present day, Boba and Fennec discover that the lone remaining assassin they captured in the first episode is a member of a group called the Night Wind.

A visit to the local mayor in hopes of identifying the assassin reveals that Boba’s presence in Mos Espa is a fairly unwelcome one - as evidenced by the Hutt twins that appear with menacing drums in the streets soon after. The cousins of Jabba and their Wookiee guard (you might recognize him from the comics) are not pleased that Boba is in charge, but agree to part ways for the time being.

The next scene shows Boba back in his bacta pod, transporting us back to the past where he is busy training with the Dune Sea Tuskens. While training, a train passes through the desert and begins firing on the group before continuing on its route. Boba promises he can help stop the train from harming the Tuskens again.

At nightfall, he investigates, steals a group of swoop bikes, and brings them back to the tribe with the promise of teaching them to ride. The next time the train approaches, the group manages to take out the gunners, stop the train, and figure out who is operating it.

The leader, a member of the Pyke syndicate, tells Boba they were trying to protect their trade route. Transporting spice prompts Boba to suggest they pay a toll to the Tuskens each time they pass through the Dune Sea since it’s the raiders’ native territory.

Following the victory against the drug train, Boba is exposed to a hallucinogenic lizard that, when swallowed, puts him in a dream-like state (a dream within a dream within a show about a crime lord) in which he succeeds in obtaining the branch that will become his gaffi stick. Forging the weapon seems to be the final step in Boba’s indoctrination into the tribe.

The episode ends with Boba joining the tribe in a dance around the night fire. He’s one of them. He’s earned his place. For now.
