ur hearts are still a little sad after saying an unexpected goodbye to Adam Christopher’s original Mandalorian-inspired novel earlier this month. But the Star Wars book universe is ever-changing, and Del Rey has already announced a new novel set to come our way this fall.
With the upcoming release of Star Wars: Visions, a new animated series of stories crafted by anime creators, Star Wars publishing newcomer Emma Mieko Candon will release a book one of these tales has inspired.
The original novel, Ronin - not a novelization of anything that will be released on Disney+ - will arrive on physical and digital bookshelves this October.
Though you may have heard the name “Ronin” before, this is the first time the concept has appeared in a galaxy far, far away. The term comes from historical Japan, referring to a lone wandering samurai who no longer serves a master.
The ronin is often known to cause trouble and could even be considered a rebel. Hmmm.
So basically, we’re about to get a book about a no-nonsense space samurai who wanders the galaxy and answers to no one, which sounds like the perfect way to continue the amazing stories we’ve already gotten so far - and have yet to dive into - this year.
In the words of the Del Rey Star Wars Twitter account, this story is “a Star Wars book quite unlike any before it.”
We’ll allow it.
This new story is set to release on October 12, 2021. Check back soon for more book details and pre-order links.
