ut of the Shadows by Justina Ireland is the latest in the quickly growing line of High Republic novels to appear on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
In January 2021, both Light of the Jedi and A Test of Courage made the list, and Charles Soule’s novel stayed on the list for en entire month.
Claudia Gray’s Into the Dark reached No. 1 on the list within its first week of publication, rounding out the first wave of novels published as part of the initiative.
Over the past few months, three more novels have blessed our bookshelves, and as of this week, they’ve all earned spots as best sellers. Out of the Shadows hit No. 2 on the NYT YA Best Sellers list on Tuesday.
Lucasfilm Publishing Creative Director Michael Siglain gave Ireland and other members of the teams responsible a shoutout for not just this week’s accomplishment, but also the initiative’s massive success as a whole.
Heddle, Executive Editor for Star Wars books at Disney Publishing, also shared praise for both Ireland and the faithful readers of this new era of books. “Could not be happier for [Justina Ireland] ... Thanks to all of our readers for your support and enthusiasm, it means a lot and keeps us working hard for you!”
Ireland also celebrated her accomplishment with heartfelt thanks to all of us. “Real talk: thank you to everyone who has given High Republic an honest go, despite the noise out there. [We] do this because we love Star Wars as much as you do, and it’s great to know you’re digging it.”
Wave 3 of the first phase of The High Republic begins in January 2022. Until then, there are a handful of comics, an audio drama, a manga, and more still awaiting their release dates.
We are all the Republic, and we’re never going to run out of Star Wars things to read.
