Let’s be honest, most of us have seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi more than a couple times. But, a little dramatic intro never hurt anyone. The Resistance may have blasted Starkiller Base, but the First Order is still chugging along in their quest to make the galaxy suck. The Last Jedi picks up where The Force Awakens left off — with the good guys of the Resistance locked in a tooth-and-nail fight for freedom. The novelization is going to bring what we’ve come to expect from Star Wars: exciting new worlds, characters, and creatures.
About the Novelization
Always two, there are. Author Jason Fry and director Rian Johnson worked hand-in-hand to craft this official adaptation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The novelization is said to add depth to the film by including content from deleted scenes and alternate scripts. We’re looking forward to Fry and Johnson’s collaboration, and hopefully to get a deeper insight into the events and characters of The Last Jedi.
Timeline and Backstory
Star Wars: The Last Jedi takes place in the year 34 ABY, picking up where The Force Awakens left off. If you want more context around the events and characters in The Last Jedi, you should check out Marvel’s new comic Star Wars: The Last Jedi – DJ: Most Wanted which centers around the backstory of DJ. Also check out Star Wars Adventures: Rose Knows which is aimed at a younger crowd, but provides more backstory to Rose. The collection of short stories in the novel Canto Bight also gives some context to the corrupt and casino-laden city featured in The Last Jedi.
